Production Samples

DC Heroes fans,

We hope everyone is doing great! We continue to make progress and recently received our final production samples, which arrive as mass production gets underway. The great news: Everything looks amazing! We’re extremely happy with the quality of the books, boxes, slipcases, and everything else.

We did, however, catch one issue that needs to be fixed.

Some of the DC Heroes books feature two separate booklets inside, with one attached to the front cover and one to the back. Unfortunately, in two of these books, the positions of the booklets were swapped in the production samples:

• Strangers in Paradise: The Sourcebook should be on the left and the Adventure on the right
• Deadly Fusion: The Batman booklet should be on the left and the Superman booklet on the right

Both were correct in our earlier preproduction samples, so we’ve asked the factory to correct them before everything is completed.

This shouldn’t cause a major delay, but it will mean a slight delay. We apologize for that, but we refuse to fumble these books at the finish line. We’ve come too far to cut corners now.

We’ll have updated delivery dates soon, but we’re close!

In the meantime, here are a couple of photos of the two final slipcases and boxes. We can’t wait for you to have these in your hands.

Final Dice! Getting Closer

DC Heroes fans,

We hope everyone is doing great. We apologize for the silence. The factory has been hard at work manufacturing everything, so there hasn’t been a ton to share. But we do have some updates today!

We checked in with the factory, and they reiterated what we told you last time: This is the most complicated printing job they’ve ever done. As you may remember, we already went through several rounds of samples during the preproduction phase to make sure everything was as good as it could be. The factory is treating those approved samples as the gospel for all 63 books and two boxes, but it’s still a painstaking process to make sure everything matches the originals, while also delivering improvements in print and paper quality.

As we mentioned last time, the factory's current production schedule has manufacturing wrapping up in early July, followed by ocean freight and the start of fulfillment in September. We expect to receive an updated completion date soon, but at this point we do not anticipate any major changes to the timeline. 

Our goal remains the same: Reward your patience by bringing DC Heroes Role-Playing Game back to life. We want to celebrate its rich history and give you something you can be proud to own now and in the future. We are close.

To help tide you over, we received samples of the final dice and dice boxes. And they look amazing!

Updated Timeline

DC Heroes fans,

As we mentioned in our last update, manufacturing has finally started on all the DC Heroes Role-Playing Game boxes, books, and accessories!

Our long-time factory has said this is “the most complicated and strict printing project” they have ever had, so they will need extra time to avoid printing errors. We’re looking at a ready date of early July at the factory. Adding in time for loading up onto ships and arriving at different fulfillment centers around the world, fulfillment should commence in September. We know that’s still a few months away, but our goal continues to be delivering a product that is as good as we can make it.

Slipcase Samples and Starting Manufacturing

DC Heroes fans,

We apologize for the silence. Since we last touched base, we’ve had two more rounds of revisions with the factory on several of the books. It was a lot of minor things like making sure that the many books with two different parts (Sourcebook attached to the front cover, Adventure to the back cover) are attached and open correctly, that all the various inserts are present and look as good as possible, that the wheel in the first edition box is perfectly aligned and high enough quality, that the quality on things like the standees is upgraded, and more. Since our factory is in China, there has been a slowdown as we sent notes and awaited receiving updated samples.

The amazing news is that we are just about there. We had two minor comments on the latest samples that came in yesterday and both require the factory making minor adjustments and sending us videos to show those fixes (as opposed to us waiting for another sample). Manufacturing should commence next week. We should have a better sense of timeline for manufacturing and fulfillment by the end of next week.

Thanks for your amazing patience and support. We know it has been slow. We know we have been really, really persnickety on these books and boxes, but we want to make sure they’re as good as we can make them. Since there are so, so many books and components in the project, it has taken much longer than expected. The bottom line is that DC Heroes means a lot to us, like it does to many of you, and we don’t want to take shortcuts

Progress Update and Some More Photos!

DC Heroes fans,

We hope everyone is having a great start to February! We apologize for the silence. We’ve been going back and forth with the factory on a few more details on the books to dial everything in. 

The great news is the updated samples of the books and slipcases are being sent to us next week. So we’ll have photos of those to share very soon. But we didn’t want to go another week without a check-in. Once the new samples are in, we should be able to finalize everything at last and give everyone a new estimate on fulfillment.
